US Strikes Houthi Targets in Yemen Amid Rising Tensions

The U.S. military confirmed it launched 15 airstrikes on Friday against Houthi military targets in Yemen. These strikes hit key military outposts, including an airport in Hodeidah and locations in Sanaa. Central Command said the targets were linked to Houthi offensive capabilities but did not specify whether missiles, drones, or radar systems were involved.

Houthi Attacks on Red Sea Vessels

The strikes follow a surge in Houthi attacks on Red Sea vessels, with nearly 100 incidents since November. Houthis claim their actions are in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, sinking two ships and killing at least four seafarers.

Targeted Locations

In addition to Sanaa and Hodeidah airport, airstrikes were reported in Dhamar city and al-Bayda province, where several Houthi military outposts were hit.

US Response to Houthi Threats

The Biden administration has primarily focused on intercepting Houthi drone and missile attacks targeting commercial and U.S. warships in the Red Sea, with fewer direct strikes on Houthi infrastructure as part of efforts to limit the broader impact of the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
